About Gaelika

I gave my life to Christ when I was 30 years old and living with my long-term boyfriend at the time. But let’s go back to when I was 25.

When I was 25 years old I began to get interested in the Bible and started studying with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Although I learned a lot about the word of the Bible, deep down in my heart I knew the Lord wasn’t calling me to be a JW.

However, I do think this is where my love for conversations about God and faith was birthed.

Around the same time, I stumbled upon Christian Hip Hop, by way of Lecrae on Tye Tribbett's Pandora Radio station.

I am a hip-hop head!

The Bible, Christian Music & Giving Myself To Jesus...

“I fell to my knees with Viola Davis snot-tears running down my face and surrendered all to Jesus.”

My mind was blown and interest peaked when I hear solid bangers edifying Christ. I went down a rabbit hole and started discovering more artists. This music really began to minister to me.

In the shower, while listening to Gunger (I really got into white people worship music too, or as the industry calls it, Contemporary Christian Music).

By the time I was 30 I was depressed, anxious, and exhausted from working and desiring to be a famous actress, and having no idea how to achieve that success on my own.

Testimony Stories Was Born…

Within a month of being a baby Christian, God told me to pursue the idea of this podcast.

At the time I wanted a one-stop-shop to hear the artist's testimony, music, the heart behind the music, and have it all weaved together with narration.

It was a similar style to my stage-play Sex Talk.

(Yeah, remember I gave my life to Christ at 30? I had some life experiences under my belt)

And having my Associate’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, and my B.A. in Performance Theatre, a podcast was in my wheelhouse, and God told me to do it.

But I pushed back because I was a baby Christian, and who am I to be having conversations about God with mature Christians? But you know God, he pressed me and pressed me hard.

A month later I started the podcast Testimony: A Musician’s Story

A few months later Rapzilla picked up the show and started exclusively promoting it on their Christian hip hop music magazine website. Eventually, we decided to go our separate ways, and TMS, created our own platform.

These conversations that I am grateful to have, have encouraged me and helped me to build my faith.

Interviews with Kambino, and Alex Faith led me to find a home church and community, unbeknownst to them.

Conversations about depression, and struggling with particular sins, have helped me when I’m struggling or having a depression episode.

Oh yeah, remember that live-in boyfriend situation?

It was at The Legacy urban ministry conference in Chicago, where God revealed a vision to me.

He showed my platform expanding and my audience getting bigger, but it was time for me to leave my boyfriend.

We were not equally yoked.

As I was growing in faith, he wanted nothing to do with God. Although our friendship and relationship were a decade old, we simply grew away from each other, as I grew closer to God.

At the time, that was one of the hardest decisions I made, but also the most level-headed decisions of my life.

God made it clear that we were no longer meant to be in each other’s presence.

Single Life, New Home, New Church

So now I’m single in my thirties and on fire for Jesus! How challenging can dating in this new online dating app world be for a Christian?

Six years later…

Challenging AF is the answer! But hey, God told me to be on my own, and I trust God.

I may be kicking and screaming my way through the process, but I’m trusting God the whole way through.

I pursued my dream And left my hometown of sacramento

I left Sacramento, CA to pursue acting full-time in Atlanta, GA.

In Sacramento, God had blessed me with some amazing friendships with people who loved God as much as I did.

I had accountability, encouragement, and deep spiritual relationships with like-minded women.

I had a home church that had become my spiritual family.

And I served in several capacities, delivered a couple of sermons, and worked part-time for Sanctuary Covenant Church.

Additionally, I developed a close friendship and working relationship with my pastor.

Who would have thought the homie would be a 50 year old something white-male -pastor?

Certainly not me! But when pastor David Beck passed in November 2019, and the following day I was fired from a job that I HATED, I knew my Sacramento chapter had ended.

I was stuck in Sacramento with no acting gigs to audition for, and Zoom interviews were on the rise. So, I had a little chat with God, and He gave me the green light to bring the show back. But this time with a straight interview format.

During that first season back in 2020 I interviewed the First Lady of Reach Records, Wande. Her testimony and how she pursued her dreams and came to Atlanta by way of Texas, inspired my elderly-millennial behind to move to ATL.

So, in the middle of a pandemic, I visited ATL for a couple of months, and God started showing out. He made it clear that ATL is where I needed to be for my Mark 11:24 to come to fruition.

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” -Mark 11:24

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” -Mark 11:24

Mark 11:24 has been my verse since I started studying with the JWs. I had this verse sitting on my desk at the job that I HATED.

I could never see how I could obtain it, but I believed it. Although my faith game has always been strong, there were multiple times when I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, but I kept believing the light was there. Each time I have a conversation with a Christian rap artist, I’m reminded that the light is there.

Over the years I have found my identity in Him. I now know that He has gifted me to be His storyteller.

This is a gift that I am grateful to share by way of acting and hosting Testimony: A Musician’s Story podcast.

“Testimonies are powerful and necessary. It is a tool that can be used throughout our faith journey. “
