In this episode, I interview rap singer Kaleb Mitchell who shares his Christian testimony.

Kaleb shares with us his genesis in music growing up in a Baptist Church all his life and being baptized at the age of 4 years old.

Music was a big part of his life growing up as he and his brother played in the children’s choir from the age of 5. He played the keyboard and his little brother played the drums.

For part of his life, he had to grow up fast having to deal with his mother’s cancer diagnosis and the absence of his father who he later found out was addicted to drugs.

He shares a story about his best friend Jahad Pain, who he referred to as his brother, who had his back early in his music career.

His friend was musically inclined, an advocate for disabled kids, and was a talented artist who was set to work with Kaleb on his next album in 2019. Shortly, his friend was murdered at the young age of 23 due to gun violence.

Revisiting “Up and Comers” interview with Kaleb Mithcell you could hear this young rap singer’s passion and energy for music.

Taking life’s experiences, like the discovery of his father’s drug addiction and other life experiences fuels his music which moves him to put meaning and intention into every single verse.

Even an unforeseeable illness and the loss of his voice did not stop him from using his God-given talent of writing, creating, and producing music.

Kaleb additionally breaks down his latest album and movie, “So Help Me God II.”
